Osteopathic Treatments

Sports Injury

Osteopathy offers a comprehensive approach to treating and preventing sports injuries by addressing the root cause of the problem, not just the symptoms.

Through a combination of manual therapy techniques, such as soft tissue manipulation, joint mobilisation, and exercise prescription, osteopaths help athletes recover from injuries more quickly and safely.

By working closely with each individual to develop a personalised treatment plan, osteopaths not only aid in the healing process but also provide valuable advice on how to prevent future injuries and enhance overall athletic performance.

Osteopathy for Knees

Osteopathy provides a holistic approach to treating knee pain by addressing not only the knee joint itself but also the surrounding muscles, ligaments, and other structures that can contribute to the problem.

By using gentle manual techniques, such as soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, and stretching, osteopaths help to reduce inflammation, improve flexibility, and restore proper function to the knee.

Additionally, osteopaths can provide personalised advice on exercises, lifestyle modifications, and preventive measures to help manage knee pain and reduce the risk of future injuries.

Pregnancy Discomfort

Osteopathy can provide gentle and safe relief for common pregnancy discomforts, such as back pain, pelvic pain, and sciatica, by using specialised techniques that are adapted to the unique needs of expectant mothers.

Osteopaths work to alleviate tension, improve circulation, and optimise the alignment of the spine and pelvis, which can help to create more space for the growing baby and reduce pressure on the mother's body.

By promoting overall balance and well-being throughout pregnancy, osteopathic care can contribute to a more comfortable and enjoyable experience for expectant mothers, as well as support a smoother labour and delivery process.

Cranial Osteopathy

Cranial osteopathy is a gentle and non-invasive approach that focuses on the subtle movements and rhythms of the skull, spine, and surrounding tissues.

By using light touch and minimal pressure, cranial osteopaths work to release tensions and restrictions in these areas, which can help to improve overall body function and promote a sense of relaxation and well-being.

This technique is particularly beneficial for infants and children, as it can help to address issues such as colic, sleep disturbances, and developmental delays, but it is also effective for adults seeking relief from conditions like headaches, migraines, and TMJ disorders.

Joint Pain Relief

Osteopathy offers a comprehensive approach to managing joint pain by addressing the root causes of the problem, such as muscle imbalances, poor posture, and structural misalignments.

Through a combination of manual techniques, including soft tissue manipulation, joint mobilisation, and gentle stretching, osteopaths work to reduce inflammation, improve flexibility, and restore proper function to the affected joints.

By providing individualised treatment plans and advice on lifestyle modifications, exercise, and ergonomics, osteopaths help patients to not only alleviate joint pain but also prevent its recurrence, ultimately promoting better overall musculoskeletal health and quality of life.

Osteopathy for Migraine

Osteopathy can provide effective relief for migraine sufferers by addressing the underlying musculoskeletal factors that may contribute to the frequency and intensity of headaches, such as neck and shoulder tension, jaw clenching, and postural imbalances.

By using gentle manual techniques to release tension, improve circulation, and optimise the alignment of the spine and cranial structures, osteopaths help to reduce the severity and duration of migraine episodes.

Additionally, osteopaths can provide guidance on lifestyle modifications, stress management techniques, and exercises that may help to prevent or minimise the occurrence of migraines, ultimately improving the overall quality of life for those affected by this debilitating condition.

What conditions can osteopathy treat?

Osteopathy can treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, knee pain, sports injuries, arthritis, headaches, migraines, and postural problems. It can also help with digestive issues, respiratory problems, and pregnancy-related discomfort.

Is osteopathic treatment painful?

Osteopathic treatment is generally gentle and should not cause significant pain. However, some patients may experience mild discomfort during or after treatment, particularly if they have acute pain or inflammation. Osteopaths work within your comfort level and adapt their techniques to minimize any discomfort.

How many osteopathic sessions will I need?

The number of sessions required varies depending on the individual and their specific condition. Some patients may experience significant relief after a single session, while others may require several treatments to achieve optimal results. Your osteopath will provide a personalized treatment plan based on your needs and progress.

Can I combine osteopathy with other medical treatments?

Yes, osteopathy can be safely combined with other medical treatments, such as medication, physical therapy, or surgery. Osteopaths often work in conjunction with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for their patients. However, it's essential to inform your osteopath about any other treatments you are receiving.

What should I wear to an osteopathic appointment?

It's best to wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being treated. For example, if you are seeking treatment for a leg injury, wearing shorts or loose pants would be appropriate. Osteopaths may ask you to remove certain articles of clothing during the examination or treatment, but they will always ensure your comfort and privacy.

Can children have Osteopath treatments

We do offer a childrens MOT, It's great to get a check up of the little ones. Involves checking their growth, signs of scoliosis in their spine, posture, foot placement, and even hearing if needed. Cranial Osteopathy can also be incorporated into the sessions if needed. For other treatments please get in touch

Met Sam for the first time last week. It was my first experience of a qualified osteopath. To say I was thrilled with treatment would be an understatement. I struggle with my back.

Happened to mention I’m a headache sufferer. Sam worked her magic and I’m pleased to say so far not a single headache since. My back hasn’t missed a beat either.

Seeing Sam next month on a maintenance schedule.

Couldn’t recommend Sam highly enough. Friendly yet professional. Down to earth and knowledgeable.

Thanks Sam 😊

From the moment I contacted Sam and explained the pain issues I was experiencing she was able to understand and diagnose what I was trying to verbalise.

She provided a prompt appt spot (just as well as I could just about move for pain) when I got there after good clinical queues and check off she worked my back, neck and shoulders.

Without doubt the best analysis and muscles manipulation, knots and kinks working out I’ve ever had!

And we had a good chat too! She was able to locate all the issues I had and found a few I didn’t know I had been struggling with!

I would thoroughly recommend Sam’s services to anyone and I intend to go back because I felt so good afterwards.

Thank you Sam!

So happy after my treatment. I have been off work for 2 weeks now in constant pain. I found it very easy to discuss my problems with Sam (lots of them caused by many injuries).

I left the practice and was ache and pain free for the first time in well over a year. Trying not to moan like a wimp while Sam worked all 6 points I had issues with I am now looking forward to my first night of decent sleep in a very long time.

As long as I need to I will always return to this practice as I was made to feel welcome and at ease the moment I walked through the door which made my treatment easier than if I was tense and nervous.

Thank you so much
